My husband does dialysis 3 times a week at 5:30 AM. I drive him but my health is getting worse. We need help with rides.
I understand. Early morning dialysis rides are one of the hardest things to arrange. Here are your options: 1. If he has Medicaid: Call LogistiCare at (866) 527-9933 to set up recurring non-emergency medical transportation. They are required to cover dialysis rides. 2. Your county paratransit: Contact your local transit authority to apply for ADA paratransit service. This covers door-to-door rides for recurring medical appointments. 3. American Kidney Fund: They have a transportation grant program. Call (800) 638-8299. What state are you in? I can get you the specific numbers.
How it works
Fill out a short form (name, date of birth, state, what you need), or skip it and text us. No insurance card, no Medicare number, no password.
Your messaging app opens with our number and a short greeting already typed. Tap send.
Usually within minutes. A doctor's name and phone number. A yes-or-no on coverage. The ride program for your county. Short, plain, specific.
Transportation
Original Medicare generally does not cover non-emergency transportation. Medicaid does, and many Medicare Advantage plans include transportation benefits. We will check what applies to your coverage.
Medicaid transportation and some paratransit services operate early enough for dialysis and other recurring treatments. We find the program in your area that covers your schedule.
We look for volunteer driver programs, faith-based transportation, and Area Agency on Aging ride services that serve rural communities. These often cover areas where paratransit does not reach.
One minute here saves a few rounds of questions later. Your first reply will already know who you're helping and what they need.
